Bidville Verified Seller Program

Bidville has been developing innovative solutions to keep our community safe. The VIP program is the first to be released. We are confident that this program, along with others that will be introduced soon, will make us pioneers of eCommerce safety.

VIP stands for Verification of Identity by Phone. The VIP Program was designed to help verify that a member is actually who they say they are. Unfortunately, it is very easy for online 'scammers' to falsify their identity. This program is a simple but effective tool in helping to verify a person's identity.

The VIP Program is currently open to all registered members from the USA and Canada with a credit card or checking account on file with Bidville.

The VIP Program is in addition to another innovative program Bidville is pioneering - the SAFE (Sellers Against Fraudulent E-Commerce) Program, which we discussed in a previous post.

The SAFE Program allows sellers to set their own security level on their auctions. Combine this with the soon to be released "Checkout" system and a Bidder VIP Program, and sellers will soon be rid of fraudulent bidders. Only here at Bidville.

More next time!

Bidville SAFE Program - Sellers Against Fraudulent E-commerce!

Bidville has developed many innovative solutions to keep our community safe. The SAFE Program is currently in beta testing. We are confident that this program, along with our VIP Program will help us lead the way in eCommerce safety.

Our goal is to stop fraudulent buyers from registering and bidding on your items. With the SAFE Program, YOU can decide who YOU feel comfortable selling to on Bidville.

The SAFE Program is an innovative solution to help keep our community safe. Sellers decide which members can bid on their items by choosing from a list of options. Settings can be modified at any time.

Storefront items are also protected by your SAFE settings, just like your auctions. Buyers that do not meet your criteria may request your approval to purchase your storefront items.

If you approve a request to bid on "ANY of my Items", it includes storefront and auction items. So, a buyer does not have to request auction and storefront approval separately.

We are proud to say that we have significantly decreased buying and selling fraud over the past few months. Quite frankly, it has just about disappeared completely thanks to our address verification, VIP Program and SAFE Program.

Welcome to your newer, safer Bidville.

Next time, more about the VIP Program, new features & MORE new features coming!

Avoiding Online Auction Fraud, Helpful Information From Your Friends At Bidville Auctions

While the vast majority of bidder/seller transactions on Bidville result in a positive exchange, there are some scam artists out there who ruin it for everyone. Here are a few tips on what to look for and how to protect yourself from online auction fraud on any auction site.

Tip #1 - Do Your Research. The golden rule to avoiding online auction fraud is to "Do your research." Do your best to get familiar with the seller you are purchasing from. Check their feedback rating along with prior transactions. This will help you make a more informed and knowledgeable decision prior to making a purchase. This also can give you helpful insights into how the seller conducts their business as well as inform you of any recurring problems experienced by other online bidders. And be sure to always familiarize yourself with the sellers return policies as well as payment procedures prior to placing a bid. This can save you a lot of time and money in the long run.

Tip #2 - If it's too good to be true…If the item of interest seems too good to be true it most likely is. Do some homework on the cost of the item from different vendors. If the auction listing seems priced abnormally low… proceed with caution. If you feel uncomfortable when placing a bid take a moment to email the seller and ask questions about the item. As with all purchases, online or otherwise, the buyer must beware.

Tip #3 - Use more than one password. Your personal information is just that, personal, so try and keep it that way. Protect yourself from online fraud and theft by having a secure password for each online venue you use. Your password should vary from account to account and consist of both letters and numbers. Stay away from using parts of your username in your password.

Tip #4 - Never enter personal information in an email. Do not enter your credit card or other personal information in any email. When you are sending payment for your item make sure you are using a secure site by checking the site's SSL certificates. If the certificate is out of date or just not there be extremely cautious about what information you give out.

We hope this information helps you enjoy a safe & pleasant shopping experience on Bidville!
